At FCT, giving back to our communities is more than a value – it’s part of who we are.
FCT has partnered with Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH) for the past seven years, but its impact extends much further than the rink. Over the past month, FCT employees from across the organization have teamed up to raise critical funds for the cause.
At the Oakville office, there were weekly charity drive bake sales, samosa lunches, high tea service, raffles for Blue Jays and Marlies tickets, toonie tosses, foosball tournaments and more – all in support of Regeneration Outreach and Armagh House in Peel Region. These colleague-led initiatives showcased creativity, generosity, and the community spirit that defines FCT’s culture.
On March 13, Team FCT took to the ice at the CAA Centre in Brampton during HHTH’s Peel Region tournament, with support from Stanley Cup Champion, Brad May.
“Our Hockey Helps the Homeless campaign is my favourite time of the year,” said Russ Bettinelli, manager of strategic initiatives and digital transformation at FCT, and captain of the FCT team. “The way employees rally around this cause has taken on a life of its own and is a testament to the important work HHTH does in communities across Canada, including here in Peel Region.”
While the FCT team came up short in the tournament losing their three games, they left it all out on the ice. The FCT cheering squad showed up for the team with appearances from FCT President, Daniela DeTommaso, as well as Marco De Paolis, Chief Revenue Officer, Vandana Paliwal, Chief Human Resources Officer, and Ian Fitzner-LeBlanc, Vice President, Legal Solutions. More than 20 FCT employees also used their Volunteer Day to join the festivities volunteering with Hockey Helps the Homeless at registration, timekeeping and more.
This year, FCT raised nearly $52,000, including employee fundraising and a company match. To date, FCT has raised over $300,000 in support of HHTH – a core pillar of FCT’s community investment program focused on combatting youth homelessness.
HHTH has granted over $33 million to organizations in communities across Canada since its inception. HHTH provides a variety of services, including emergency shelters, transitional housing, and mentorship programs for those currently experiencing homelessness across Canada.
