Meet Madeleine, our William G. Davis Scholarship recipient

At FCT, we’re invested in the youth of our communities. Since 2015, we have proudly offered a scholarship program to help deserving youth across Canada overcome some of the financial challenges of attending university.

By partnering with Home Suite Hope (HSH), an organization that unites a network of vital support services for single mothers and their children, we have helped to make a greater impact in the community by opening up the William G. Davis scholarship to mothers who are single, at-risk, or experiencing homelessness, and their children, currently enrolled in HSH programs.

William G. Davis Scholarship

The scholarship itself was named after The Honourable William G. Davis, 18th Premier of Ontario and current FCT board chairman, whose passion for education contributed to his work in building Ontario’s community college system.

This year’s scholarship recipient is Madeleine Griffenham-Jones, a hard-working, determined young woman with a passion for history.

Madeleine and her mother have faced many challenges over the years. Through perseverance and determination, they have overcome those challenges.

Madeleine plans to use the proceeds from the scholarship to help fund her university education as she continues to pursue her interest in history.

We had the opportunity to interview Madeleine and discovered what an amazing person she is. Check it out below.
