FCT Search Assist Contest Rules
1. DRAW PERIOD
The “Search Assist Rewards Contest”, (the "Contest") is run by First Canadian Title Company Limited (“FCT”) and will take place from February 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. (ET) to May 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (ET) (the "Contest Period").
2. ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is only open to legal professionals in the provinces of Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta who are a resident of Canada and the age of 18 as of January 1, 2026.
Employees, contractors and agents of FCT, its affiliates, suppliers, as well as members of the immediate family of such FCT employees, their legal or common-law spouses or any persons with whom such employees reside are not eligible to be entered into the Contest. If any such persons are drawn from the ballot or win a prize as outlined below (each a “Prize” and collectively, the “Prizes”) their entry shall be disregarded and another draw held or Prize awarded.
Should any one or all of the eligibility requirements listed above not be met, the Prize will be forfeited and the Prize awarding process will be repeated until the Prize is awarded to an eligible entrant.
If an eligible entrant does not wish to be automatically entered into the Contest, they must contact FCT prior to the end of the Contest Period to request that their name not be entered.
3. HOW TO ENTER
No purchase is required to enter or win the Contest.
a) Search Assist requestors
Entrants who request searches by choosing the “Search Assist + Title Insurance” option when creating a new order in the Commercial Title Insurance online ordering portal are automatically entered in the Contest for the month.
b) No order entryAn eligible individual may submit an entry without a commercial search request a maximum of once each month of the Contest Period, by sending a hand-written 100 word statement of why they would like to win a Prize, together with their name, employer, email address and phone number, to “FCT Search Assist Rewards Contest”, 2235 Sheridan Garden Drive, Oakville, Ontario, L6J 7Y5. Eligible entries received prior to a draw (see section 6 below) will be included in that monthly draw.
4. PRIZES
There will be one $200 Amazon Gift Card prize available to be awarded for every draw for searches requested through Search Assist + Title Insurance between February and May 2026. Each Prize has a retail value of $200.00. Four (4) prizes will be awarded in total.
Please note: There is no cash equivalent for the Prizes. The Prizes must be accepted as awarded. The Prizes may not be sold or transferred and are not convertible to cash. FCT reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value at FCT’s sole discretion. Any costs associated with the use of the Prize (subscription, maintenance, etc.) are the sole responsibility of the Winner. In the event of the unavailability of a Prize for any reason, FCT reserves the right to award a substitute Prize or cash equivalent or any part thereof.
5. ODDS OF WINNING
The odds of winning a Prize in each monthly draw depend on the number of eligible entries received by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on the last day of each month from February to May 2026. All entries that do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Contest Rules may be disqualified by FCT.
6. DRAW AND AWARDING OF PRIZE(S)
6.1. Draw and Skill-Testing Question: There will be a random draw from among the eligible entries received by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on the last day of each month from February to May 2026, to be held at the following dates/times:
- Monday, March 2, 2026, 10:00 am ET
- Thursday, April 2, 2026, 10:00 am ET
- Monday, May 4, 2026 10:00 am ET
- Monday, June 1, 2026 10:00 am ET
The selected entrant of each monthly draw will be contacted via email within two (2) business days of the draw.
In addition to meeting the Contest eligibility criteria outlined herein and subject to these Contest Rules, to be declared a “Winner” the individual must:
- be available to be reached by telephone and/or email (as listed on file) between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (ET) during a period of ten (10) business days immediately following the selection of their entry (the “Allotted Contact Time”). There will be a maximum of two (2) attempts to reach the selected entrant. For security reasons, the representative from FCT must speak directly to the selected entrant to verify their identity. If the selected entrant cannot be contacted within the Allotted Contact Time, FCT reserves the right to void that entry and randomly select another entrant from the pool of entries.
- correctly answer, unaided, a time limited mathematical skill-testing question posed by email at a mutually convenient time and date. There will be one opportunity to answer the mathematical skill-testing question. If the selected entrant provides an incorrect answer they will no longer be eligible to win the specified Prize and another entrant will be randomly selected using the procedure set out in these Contest Rules until the monthly Prize is awarded.
6.2. Release: Prior to receiving a Prize, the selected entrant will be required to and agrees to sign a release, confirming contest eligibility, confirming understanding, acceptance and compliance with these Contest Rules, acceptance of the Prize as rewarded, and consenting to the use of their name, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by FCT.
6.3. Delivery of Prize: Once an entrant is declared a Winner, FCT or its representatives will send to the Winner an email informing them of the method by which they may take possession of the Prize. FCT will pay for shipping to the Winner. If the Prize is shipped, it shall not be insured and FCT shall not assume any liability if the Prize is lost, damaged or misdirected. If the Winner does not accept the Prize for any reason whatsoever or is found to be ineligible to collect the Prize, then the Winner forfeits the Prize and FCT shall have no further obligation or liability to the Winner with respect to the forfeited Prize.
7. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
7.1. Changes to Contest and Tampering: FCT reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the Contest, in whole or in part, in the event of any cause or circumstance, including without limitation any virus, computer bug or unauthorized human intervention or any other cause that is beyond the control of FCT, that could corrupt or affect the administration, security, impartiality or normal course of the Contest. FCT also reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify any individual from the Contest (i) whom it finds to be in violation of the terms and conditions hereunder, (ii) who tampers with the entry process, (iii) whose eligibility is in question, (iv) who has been disqualified, (v) who is otherwise ineligible to enter, or (vi) who is damaging any website or undermining the administration, security or legitimate operation of the Contest.
7.2. Name of Winner: By accepting a Prize, the Winner authorizes FCT to publish and otherwise use their name in FCT’s marketing material, without any form of remuneration.
7.2. Governing Law: This Contest, the terms and conditions hereunder, and any disputes hereunder shall be governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada. The Contest is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law.
7.3. Privacy Policy: The collection, use and disclosure of personal information are for the sole purpose of the administration of the Contest and the awarding of the Prizes. FCT’s privacy policy can be viewed at https://fct.ca/privacy/.
7.4. Limitation of Liability: Entrants release and hold harmless FCT, its related companies, officers, directors, agents, shareholders, representatives and employees and their respective successors, representatives and assigns, from any and all liabilities, claims, damages, actions, debts, accounts, covenants, warranties, indemnities, human errors (including gross negligence), from any disruption, congestion, technical malfunction, security breach or failure of any software program, system or technology in connection with the Contest, or causes of action of whatever nature or kind arising out of, or in connection with or resulting from entrants’ participation in the Contest, errors in Contest materials (including but not limited to any printing, typographical, distribution, or production errors; stolen, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, illegible, destroyed, delayed, deleted), compliance or non-compliance with these Contest Rules and the acceptance, awarding, receipts, possession, use and/or misuse of the Prize. FCT is not responsible for orders not submitted under the entrant’s name.
FCT assumes no responsibility for: incorrect or inaccurate entries, entries lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected, or for technical failures or human error which could result in inaccurate postings and notifications or entries which fail to comply with these Contest Rules. FCT is not responsible for notifications that are rejected or that do not reach a Contest entrant or Contest Winner.
Save and except where a Prize has been obtained through sponsorship the cost of such Prize has been incurred by First Canadian Title Company Limited. First Canadian Title Company Limited shall also be the entity awarding the Prize.
