Jennifer Ashton has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer, and Sam Ishak has been promoted to Chief Information Officer.

Each leader has a long tenure with the company and each has played a critical role in the growth of FCT beyond its title insurance roots. They have consistently demonstrated their commitment to the company’s vision to make real estate transactions simple and secure. Jennifer will take on the leadership of the finance team, and is responsible for financial and management reporting, accounting, treasury, financial planning and analysis, and taxation.

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO, July 18, 2017 – FCT, a leading provider of title insurance, default solutions and other real-estate-related products, announced today that it will integrate appraisal delivery and review services with the eServices plug-in from ACI, a leading innovator in valuation technology for the mortgage industry. The eServices plug-in is a component within ACI’s Canadian Residential Appraisal Library (CRAL) and will streamline the overall appraisal delivery and review process by identifying whether or not appraisal reports meet the minimum requirements of FCT’s customized rule set prior to report delivery.

The eServices plug-in will allow appraisers to review their reports for correctness, completeness and compliance using over 400 custom review rules prior to delivery to FCT. Because the quality control check is performed on the front-end, CRAL appraisers can expect improved appraisal quality and fewer revision requests overall.

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO, May 1, 2017 – The FCT Charitable Foundation’s Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship program is accepting applications. Now in its third year, the scholarship program awards five $1,000 scholarships to post-secondary students in Canada. Applicants for the scholarships must be currently enrolled in or accepted to a post-secondary Canadian educational institution.

This scholarship program is named after The Honourable William G. Davis, the 18th Premier of Ontario, whose passion for education contributed to his work in building Ontario’s community college system. Mr. Davis continues to serve as the Chair of FCT’s board of directors, a position he has held for the past decade. He also served on the board of directors for FCT’s parent company, First American, from 1997-
2013.

How to apply

Students are asked to fill out an online application form, which includes their community and volunteer involvement, any extra-curricular activities, high-school transcript, letters of recommendation and an essay explaining why they deserve the scholarship. All applications must be submitted online to the FCT Charitable Foundation by June 30, 2017. Applications will be reviewed by representatives of the FCT Charitable Foundation. Successful applicants will be contacted in August 2017. Please note past recipients
of the scholarship are not eligible.

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO, April 17, 2017 – In time for the busy spring real estate market, FCT has launched Certified Resale Home, a cost-effective, pre-listing home inspection and warranty in partnership with AmeriSpec Inspection Services that will better protect consumers purchasing a resale home.

This innovative new service combines a comprehensive, unbiased home inspection conducted before a seller’s home is put on the market with an 18-month warranty from FCT that is transferable from seller to buyer. Sellers are able to enhance buyer comfort by reducing the risk to home buyers, especially in a multi offer market that often precludes getting a home inspection. The service was successfully piloted last year in the Niagara region and was embraced by local real estate agents and brokers as a valuable service.

The warranty covers important systems and components of the home that may be difficult to assess during the home inspection because of seasonality or accessibility, and often create the most anxiety for home owners, particularly from a financial perspective. The coverage offers a maximum of $20,000 for the repair and/or replacement of the foundation, roof, heating and cooling systems.

Certified Resale Home leverages FCT’s experience in the delivery of a superior customer experience. This new service is built on our 25-year commitment to real estate, and reflects FCT’s mission to make financial transactions simple and secure for Canadians.

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO, March 2, 2017 – FCT announced today the retirement of Patrick Chetcuti, president, after a 26-year career that began in 1992. Chetcuti will continue with FCT as a member of its board of directors.

“I’d like to thank Pat for his leadership and vision in growing the title insurance industry in Canada,” said FCT CEO Michael LeBlanc. “It has been a pleasure to work closely with Pat for the past 23 years. I respect his insight and dedication to both our customers and our business, and I’m grateful he will remain involved with the company as a board member.”

After running a successful real estate law practice for 20 years in Hamilton, Ontario, Chetcuti helped bring title insurance to Canada. Chetcuti was confident that title insurance could improve the real estate conveyancing process and change the way real estate transactions were handled in Canada. “We knew we had a better solution for consumers,” said Chetcuti in a previous interview available on the FCT Blog. “People told us we were crazy—the old way was how real estate transactions had been managed for
decades and decades.”

Since then, FCT has been a leader in the industry thanks to the vision, hard work and dedication of FCT’s employees. “Yes, we’re at the forefront of our industry. OAKVILLE, ONTARIO, August 18, 2016 – The FCT Charitable Foundation (FCTCF) announced the five recipients of The Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship today at a celebratory event at the Foundation’s home office. Five successful students were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship to be applied to their post-secondary education.

Thank you to all of the students who applied to The Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship and to the selection committee members for dedicating their time to this process,” said Michael LeBlanc, chair, FCTCF and chief executive officer, FCT. “We saw an overwhelming number of applicants this year with more than 600 applications, compared to 60 in our first year. The quality of these applications was undeniable. The FCTCF is proud to be able to offer these scholarships to these deserving students, and hope that we can play a small role in their continued success. Congratulations again to the scholarship recipients. We wish you the best of luck during this upcoming school year.”

At this year’s event, the FCTCF welcomed back past scholarship recipient Muluba Habanyama to speak about her story as an HIV advocate. She spoke to the audience of more than 200 employees and special guests about how last year’s scholarship has helped her in her post-secondary journey, where she became valedictorian of her graduating class.

The FCTCF would also like to thank John Oliver, MP; Indira Naidoo-Harris, MPP; Mayor Rob Burton of Oakville; and Nick Hutchins, Oakville Town Councillor for attending the event. The FCTCF also thanks its integrated facility management partner, Sodexo, for its partnership and providing the refreshments for the celebration event.

About the Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship Program

The scholarship program is named after The Honourable William G. Davis, the 18th Premier of Ontario, whose passion for education contributed to his work in building Ontario’s community college system. For the past decade, Mr. Davis has served as the Chair of FCT’s board of directors. He also served on the board of directors for FCT’s parent company, First American, from 1997-2013.

Students were asked to fill out an application form, which included their community and volunteer involvement, any extra-curricular activities, and an essay explaining to the committee why they deserve the scholarship. Each application was then reviewed by a panel of teaching professionals who advised the FCTCF on their selections in August 2016. In order to qualify for the scholarships, each recipient must be accepted or currently enrolled at a post-secondary Canadian institution.

Most recently, he was a senior account executive at a leading analytics company, where he managed many key Quebec financial services accounts, including accounts for two leading financial institutions. Prior to that, he was a senior director at another large financial institution, where he led the payment clearing center and other major projects. He also spent the first half of his career in a variety of roles, including national director at a national bank.
