FCT Fundraises for Salvation Army

FCT caps off a year of fundraising with donations to Salvation Army’s Angel Tree & Mission Services of London

London, Ontario, December 17, 2013 – Once again FCT employees gathered together to present the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree with $4,500 in Christmas toys and gifts from a year of fundraising matched by corporate donations through the FCT Charitable Foundation. FCT employees have been donating gifts
to the Angel Tree for the past 8 years and their efforts to date total in excess of $36,000.

In addition, Mission Services of London was presented with a cheque for over $2,600 for its charitable purposes from the FCT Charitable Foundation (FCTCF). Under the auspices of the FCTCF, London employees selected Angel Tree and Mission Services of London as the two charities that it would support through employee and corporate donations in London for 2013.

“One of FCT’s values is a “passion to serve” and this extends to our local community,” said Harry Verburg COO, FCT Default Solutions. “In the past FCT and its employees have supported many local charities in London such as the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree, since 2005. As a result of our track record of charitable giving, the employee-led FCT Charitable Foundation began operation in 2013.”

“It is very rewarding to see the positive results of our year-long efforts to raise funds for these two very worthwhile organizations. We hope that many more people in our community will have a happier Christmas because of our efforts”, said Paul McLeish, FCTCF London Board member.

FCTCF is a registered charity licensed by the Canada Revenue Agency that provides funds to charities to alleviate poverty and homelessness, as well as scholarships for post secondary education in the communities in which FCT operates. The FCTCF is governed and operated by FCT employees. FCT employees are directly empowered to select and support local charities in the region in which they work. Through their local charity selections, employees also influence where FCT corporate charitable donations will be distributed in each region.

In London for 2014, FCT and its employees will again raise funds to support Salvation Army’s Angel Tree and Mission Services of London. Angel Tree is a Salvation Army Charity dedicated to bringing the joy of Christmas to needy families by providing children and ‘tweens’ with gifts. Mission Services provides safe shelter, food, clothing and rehabilitation.
