FCT A “GOOD NEIGHBOUR” ON EARTH DAY — Employees clean up Wildflower Woods and FCT sponsors Clearview Clean up—
OAKVILLE, ONTARIO April 23, 2012 – FCT (First Canadian Title) showed its support for the community by cleaning up Wildflower Woods on April 20th and supporting the Clearview Residents Earth Day Clean Up on April 21st.
FCT is committed to reducing its environmental footprint and to being a “good neighbour” to the conservation area of Wildflower Woods. FCT employees with the assistance of a local town councilor, Dave Gittings took part in FCT’s Annual Earth Day clean up of Wildflower Woods, FCT and the surrounding area on April 20th.
Employees annually convene for an Earth Day clean up of their property and their neighbour Wildflower Woods Conservation Area. FCT also sponsored the Clearview Clean up by local residents in Ward 3. FCT has supported local green initiatives including:
Local Tree Planting Since the development and expansion of its Sheridan Garden Drive property, FCT has planted over 135 trees on its property and in the neighbouring community.
The Wildflower Woods Trails Project. FCT supported the Conservation Authority installation of a walking trail, including a boardwalk to protect a sensitive area, and interpretive signage about the natural features of the area. The Wildflower Woods is a 24 acre nature preserve which supports over 200 species including 171 species of plants, 20 species of butterflies, 29 species of birds, and 9 species of mammals.
Conservation Halton recognized FCT with the Conservation Award of Excellence –Corporate Award, 2009. In 2010, FCT also received the Mayor’s Urban Forest Award, in the Category of Best Tree‐Friendly Landscape – Commercial.
