OAKVILLE, ONTARIO, October 10, 2019 – FCT, the national leader in title insurance and real estate technology, announced the company awarded $5,000 through the Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship to Geoffrey Fornoles, a disadvantaged secondary school student who was confronted with the challenges of homelessness in the past year. The scholarship will help fund his post-secondary education as he enrolls in a Computer Science program.

Fornoles was selected through a partnership with Home Suite Hope, a charitable organization that fills a gap in the shelter system by providing transitional housing to the growing homeless population in the Halton Region. Opening up about the struggles he faced last year, Fornoles had the following to say about the Honourable William G. Davis Scholarship: “The previous year was challenging for my mom and I as we were at risk of being homeless for months, continuously struggling to make ends meet. I am not able to save much money for my post-secondary education, so being awarded this scholarship is a huge help.”

“As an organization, we are committed to combating youth homelessness in Canada and our scholarship is one of the ways we do so,” said Michael LeBlanc, CEO of FCT. “We recognize that attending post-secondary education is challenging for youth who face the risk of homelessness, so we’re making an impact by helping alleviate some of the costs of attending college or university for disadvantaged youth.”

Since launching the scholarship program in 2015, FCT has helped 16 deserving students offset some of the financial challenges of a post-secondary education. The scholarship program was named after The Honourable William G. Davis, the 18th Premier of Ontario, whose passion for education contributed to his work in building Ontario’s community college system.
