Virtual learning and education in a complex environment
Sep 28th, 2020 | By FCT
In February, Forbes ran an article on the technologies disrupting the property and real estate industry.
The article began with a sentence that would ring true throughout the rest of 2020, “no industry is immune to technological advances, but real estate is one niche that has been traditionally slower to adopt new trends. Not any longer!” From Big Data, AI and machine learning, to ensure secure transactions at every stage of the real estate journey, the industry is changing rapidly and becoming more complex.
While technology enables solutions that are faster, more efficient and more secure, it can also create overwhelming feelings of confusion and frustration for those trying to navigate the changes.
Education has always been a hallmark of FCT. We are committed to investing in education to ensure that our customers not only have the right tools but also the right training to support their needs. This has become increasingly more important over these last few months, as the challenges of the pandemic place an even greater emphasis on virtual learning.
FCT’s tools for virtual learning
As millions of Canadians abruptly found themselves in remote working situations, some of our existing virtual solutions, such as Easy Fund in Ontario, quickly became an industry-leading tool for moving money electronically. We also created a series of free, accredited webinars and product-specific tutorials to help further industry knowledge.
These webinars are specific to our lawyer, notary, lender and broker audiences and provide essential information in today’s ever-evolving digital real estate industry. We’ve covered regional and national topics such as risk management, fundamentals of commercial and residential title insurance, FCT broker tracker enhancements and fraud and risks in a digital world, with more to come – including an upcoming series for commercial lenders to help them understand how title insurance can increase their borrower satisfaction and protection.
At FCT, the early emphasis we put on innovation and technology gives our customers a real advantage. According to Eric Haslett, vice president of commercial solutions, “acceptance of virtual signings and other technology solutions isn’t going to go away – this sudden change has created a new reality that is here to stay. Our job is to make sure we provide the information and education our customers require to keep pace and succeed.”
